JEE stands for Joint Entrance Exam. It is a National exam for admission for Bachelor's Engineering in Indian colleges. This exam is also mandatory for qualifying for JEE Advanced or IIT-JEE.
JEE Main is held for UG engineering admissions to various institutes including NITs, some other private and government funded institutes and universities.
The exam has two stages:
- JEE Main 2016
- EngineeringJEE Advanced 2016: For courses in IITs.
As per official announcement, the application process will start from 1 December, 2015. The exam dates are also announced, stating the JEE main offline exam will be conducted on 3 April, 2016 and the JEE main online exam will be conducted on 9 and 10 April, 2016.

Eligibility Criteria for JEE Main 2016
- A candidate who wish to appear in JEE Main 2016 Exam must be passed in the final examination in class XII or it's equivalent exam, also known as Qualifying exam.
- Candidate can appear for the JEE Main 2016 exam if he/she is appearing for qualifying exams.
- A general / OBC candidate's Date of Birth must be on or after 1st October 1991. However, for a reserved student it is relaxed up to 5 years, i.e. 1st October 1986.
- Passing in five subject is required for a candidate in class XII.
- If the candidate has passed class XII in or before year 2012, he/she is not eligible for appearing in JEE Main 2016.
- A candidate can attempt to pass JEE Main exam for three times.
Exam Pattern for JEE Main 2016
- The Whole paper will be set of 90 questions.
- Each subject i.e Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics will contain 30 questions.
- Negative marking pattern will be followed.

JEE Main Application Procedure
The mode of application form filling will be
online only. The JEE Main 2016 application form filling process starts from the first week of November.
Highlights
The application procedure is something like this:
- Filling of application form online.
- Uploading of Images such as photo, thumb impressions, signature.
- Payment of examination fee online by credit/ debit card OR by E-challan issued from Syndicate / Canara / ICICI Banks only.
- Downloading the application form (receipt).
Candidates are advised NOT to send their documents to CBSE or JEE office, it is not required, the whole application process is online.
